Closet Update

You know that feeling of looking in your closet, then saying "I have nothing to wear"? Us too. Which is why going through your closet a few times a year is a great idea. If you haven't worn something in 8-12 months, we suggest tossing it. This frees up space for items you'll get more use out of.

Helping others with this process is a true passion! Having the opportunity to help a good friend, her agreeing to be featured on the blog, and doing this with hangry kids running everywhere makes for an exciting afternoon.The reality of this shoot was spent going through Natalie's closet, helping her decipher what to toss...and did I mention hangry kids? This is real life though, guys. It's easy to get caught up in the glimpse of what we see on the interwebs and social media. But we only tend to see what people chose to share, which tends to be small, glamorous snippets. 

When we started this blog, we agreed to stay true to ourselves, and this is one of those posts that challenged that. This wasn't a glamorous shoot, at all, nor will we make it appear that way. Kids were running, sneezing, crying, and screaming everywhere...but, that's real life for us.

70s Vibes

Does anyone else think of That 70s Show when seeing bell bottom pants? Mila & Ashton too, they're adorable.

Anyways...flare pants, we think they're definitely worth trying. They elongate and slim your legs, us shorter women definitely appreciate that! The pair featured in this post are so comfortable, and the corduroy is the perfect color. Trying them on it was an instant love affair. 

In my excitement I realized my failure to check the price tag before even placing a toe in the leg. Whoops! Usually this mistake does not work in my favor...honestly, I don't recommend it. This time however, it did. 

Ladies, these pants were under $30! If you haven't been to Proper and Prim (located in Fargo), you need to check it out...there's always something, for everyone.

Downtown Explorer

We love a good day of shopping downtown. Each city is unique with it's store fronts, restaurants, boutiques, signage, decor...it's own personality. Entering downtown in any city is always exciting, it's like meeting a new person or revisiting an old friend. Fargo's downtown is like that friend you can always count on for good conversation and great memories. Stay tuned to see what we found shopping!

The outfit in this post was comfortable and so perfect for a day of exploring downtown. The sweatshirt was so warm, and the shoulder cutout added the perfect detail. Jeggings are also something we gravitate towards vs. leggings. They give more coverage and are most definitely warmer for the Winter months.

We also believe in having one pair of over the knee boots. They work great with casual outfits, and dresses.

Saying Goodbye to 2016

Trying to fall asleep knowing I need to get up early, I roll to the other side of my bed pulling at the blanket. Sighing with relief, I was finally comfortable. In that instant I look around, there's peace in the darkness that surrounds me. I close my eyes finding comfort in knowing how much my life has changed over the course of 2016. Reflecting on the year, I slowly drift to sleep, knowing tomorrow, next month, and next year are going to be nothing less than amazing. Ultimately, that's what we all deserve.

It seems as though no matter who we begin to discuss 2016 with...it was a year full of lessons and change. 

Can we all take a moment and pat ourselves on the back? 

Life can be tough, and completely ironic. We have to go through the bad to appreciate the good. We require failure to understand success. And, sadness to know the feeling of happiness. But, isn't this what life's journey is all about?

Reflect for a moment on all that you've accomplished in the last year and every thing leading up to now...this current moment; good, bad, success, failure. It's pretty incredible that if one of those moments (or things) didn't happen, you wouldn't be you..in this moment. Breathing. Alive. 

Waking up the next morning, I feel refreshed. I check my phone seeing it's 5:30 am, I sprawl out on my bed. Scrolling through unopened messages, I find myself laughing, realizing I'm right where I'm supposed to be. Breathing. Alive. Happy ...genuinely happy!
