Street Style

It's officially Spring. So, I was planning to wear a completely different outfit than what is in this post...because Spring, you know? The weather here, being its unpredictable self, caused a last minute wardrobe change.

But, I couldn't be happier with the end results. Bobby was able to roll with it, scope out a quick location, and it so effortlessly fell into place. I've shot with this awesome dude a couple times, and I think the moments he's able to capture just prove the emotion he's able to evoke. Not to mention his ability to uniquely photograph clothing (it's harder than it looks, guys). I'm a huge fan of his creative style and passion for what he does!! I couldn't be more excited to say that Bobby is officially the photographer for FwF.

So many exciting things to come! And, as always, thank you for stopping by! You guys are truly the best, and I appreciate your endless support so much.

This outfit though...I think it's fair to say I have a legitimate obsession with layering. This is what makes your outfit your own. I love the rugged, street vibe this outfit portrays. And, denim on denim, or Canadian tuxedo, whatever you'd prefer to call it, is all over bloggers and celebs right now too.

Black, ripped denim, hats...love equation, right?!

White & Velvet

My wardrobe tends to be more neutral tones, but white pulls at my heartstrings. I don't know what it is, well maybe I do, I think white is more flattering than black. Most people think the opposite, and that's okay, do your thang!

I think at this point it's common knowledge I'm obsessed with Target, and all things Target. But, I won't get started on that, this post would get extremely lengthy.

So back to white...

I saw this shirt, ohhh, I think I had hearts in my eyes!!! I had to have it! I've been on the hunt for a shirt with sleeves like this for what seems to be forever. I always panic at bigger stores when I see clothing I love from a distance, and as I get closer realize there's a selected few left. My heart will instantly race as a scramble to see if my size is there. It's pure joy (and maybe some relief) when I find it, typically online searches begin when I don't. This time I was lucky though, it was fate!

And these shoes, oh these shoes! I'm such a sucker for detail...between the pretty bow, the velvet, and the color, how can you not love these? I also love shoes that are feminine without a heel. Because let's face it, heels are rarely comfortable to wear ALL day.

This outfit is simple, but it has so many unique details. That's what I love about it. From the sleeves, to the hemline on the denim, to the shoes.

Outside the Box

Recently I found myself in a conversation with another blogger discussing how we describe our personal style. In that moment I found myself in one of those "ahhh I don't know how to answer this question" limbos.

This conversation really got me thinking, you know those moments when you play fake scenarios in your head? Yeah, one of those kind of thinking moments. Which has led me to word vomit all over this post.

If I'm asked what my style is, I honestly don't have a specific style. That seems so weird to you I'm sure, considering here you are, reading my fashion blog.

Here's how I can best describe that "what's your style" question...
I don't like to put myself inside a box, or fit into a category...this goes with anything. I follow what the trends are, but I don't necessarily wear them because they're "trendy". I'm a huge advocate of dressing for yourself and what fits your body type. If I love a shirt and want it oversize, I don't think twice about buying an XL. I will splurge on a piece, but thrift stores are rad to me too. I like things in unexpected ways. Men's/Boy's clothes, I definitely don't shy away from either. Basically, I'm a little all over the place, but I think that's what makes my style what it is. So, if someone asks me what my style is? I would say, "outside the box".

And, outside the box is definitely what this outfit is. But, that's who I am.

I'm such a sucker for weird, odd, unique things. Which meant these shoes hit my cart before you could even say "shoes". I knew I wanted to style them uniquely too, and this outfit just seemed to flow in a weird, edgy way. This jacket (the embroidered detail!!) went right into my cart too.

I also want to touch on this shoot...one of my favorites to date! I had the opportunity to work with not one, but two amazing local photographers. Lets face it, getting your photo taken is awwwkward! I will be honest, through blogging it doesn't bother me much anymore. For most though, it's an odd and uncomfortable feeling. But, these two, hilarious dudes! There wasn't a weird moment, and the shoot was full of jokes and laughter. Look for more of their work coming to the blog, and hit them up if you're looking for a photographer.

High Waisted & Cut Out

If a crystal ball would've told me a year ago, I'd be where I am today I'd laugh. But I'm here, and I owe a huge thanks to my amazing girlfriends.

I've learned a lot about myself and grown in ways I didn't know possible. I have been forced out of my comfort zone, but with this came amazing friendships, new adventures, great opportunities, and personal growth. I've discovered the meaning of the quote "great things never came from comfort zones". If it wasn't for the amazing friends I wouldn't be who I am today. I truly believe in the power of supporting each other and helping everyone in the process of becoming the best version of themselves.  #cheesiness #butreal

My girlfrans', new and old, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you all!

Now...let's discuss CLOTHES!!

High waisted denim, oh yes! I couldn't be more in love with a pair of jeans than these Mother Denim jeans. Is that a weird coincidence they're "mom jeans" and the brand is Mother? Mother does no wrong though. I have some non-mom jeans from them also, and they're equally amazing, hug the right places, and the denim is the softest!

Shoulder cut outs, also, oh yes! And cut outs for that matter are so on trend right now. And lace, I love that Alyssa and Brittin both wore lace tops and layered it.

Fun fact, we learned all three of us hate (are terrified of) birds. Seriously, keep them away!

Shop My Shoe Picks

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (@whitney_lynne) you've seen snippets of my shoe collection. Shoes are such a weak spot for me, I'm working on it. But, in the mean time I've gathered some of my favorite shoe picks for you to shop!

If you ask me, shoes can make or break an outfit. I'm trying to not buy as many, but it's really really hard. Does anyone else have this issue? Please, tell me I'm not alone!

So, let's discuss some of the shoe trends for Spring/Summer 2017.

First, sneakers! Ughhh, comfort. Who could dislike this trend? Fashionable and functional, sometimes these two words don't mesh, but sneakers are having a moment so by all means embrace it. Don't be afraid to wear them with anything, literally anything. I've styled mine with skirts, jeans, and leggings.

And mules/clogs are also right on trend. These are great as heels, wedge, or flats. Ahh the possibilities!

I've linked some of my favorites below for you to shop.

Channeling the Olsons

I will admit, there are days where I put minimal effort into what I walk out of the house in. Sometimes I may look borderline homeless, and I'm completely fine with that. It's definitely my version of channeling MK and Ash, which makes this more than okay, right? They definitely make the "homeless look" chic.

I just started layering things on myself, and it seemed to work. Dressing this time of year can be semi challenging, it's wet, but it's snowing, then by 3pm the sun is shining. I just want to yell at Mother Nature and tell her to figure it out. But, I get it, I have moody days too.

This duster is one of my all time favorite pieces, and I hope I'm never forced to part with it. If you don't have one I highly recommend snagging one. It seems to go with anything and everything I wear, and who doesn't love those wardrobe staples? It's also a neutral, which makes it that much better...it just flows with the rest of my closet.

And, Hunter boots... in the Midwest, I feel like these are also an item to snag for this time of year. I don't shy away from wearing mine all year, though. I love how these are lace up, with the stripe in the back. And, they're definitely great for skipping through the puddles right now.
